Susan Ruth Barbe, 64, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 1, 2017.

She was born February 25, 1953 in Port Huron to the late Arthur and Avis Stephens. She married Dennis Barbe on October 12, 1974 in Port Huron.

Susan was a graduate of Port Huron Northern High School (Class of 71), St. Clair County Community College and Eastern Michigan University. She was a Past President and longtime volunteer with the McLaren Port Huron Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Port Huron Chapter #170 Order of the Eastern Star. Susan was an artist, musician, teacher, and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Dennis; daughter, Tammy Stephenson; grandson, Dion Stephenson; step-mother, Joan Stephens; sister-in-law, Laura Stephens; brothers-in-law, Doug (Diane), Tom (Gloria), Tony (Ginny), Dave (Annette), and Tim (Taina) Barbe; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Stephens; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Betty Barbe.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be Doug, Tom, Tony, Dave, and Tim Barbe, and Dion Stephenson.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be made to the McLaren Port Huron Hospital Auxiliary or Blue Water Hospice.
