Roger J. Martin, 86, of Marysville, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born August 9, 1930 in Detroit to the late Rinaldo and Anna Martin. He married Elma Bertolin on July 11, 1953 in Detroit. He and Elma enjoyed 64 years of marriage.

Mr. Martin earned his Associates degree from Lawrence Technological University and served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he received the Bronze Star. He retired from General Dynamics in 1993 as Director of Facilities after 25 years of service. He enjoyed golf, fishing, poker, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends in true Italian tradition.

He is survived by his wife, Elma; four children, Ronald Martin, Linda (Stephen) Piatelli, Michelle (James) Hensel and Annette (Anthony) DeVito; seven loving grandchildren, Amanda, Christine, Melisa, Tiffany, Jessica, Brett and Maribeth; two great-grandchildren, Reagan and Mackenzie; two sisters, Mary-Lou (Russell) Stabile and Kathleen (David) Graham; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, in the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Royal Oak, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass. The Reverend Joseph Lang, Associate Pastor, will officiate.
