Kathleen Cavanaugh, 71, lost her struggle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and died peacefully at McLaren Hospital Port Huron on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, just ten weeks after the death of her husband Patrick.

Born in Detroit November 1, 1945 to Anthony and Beruta (Astrowsky) Savant. She graduated from East Detroit High School. Within a few years, she went to work at Chrysler Corporation where she met and married the man with whom she would spend the happiest 31 years of her life.

Kathy was very committed to proper animal care and worked with many animal rescue organizations in Southeast Michigan. She also worked as a volunteer, assisting others in developing literacy skills in English. She was very proud to be a graduate of the MSU Extension Master Gardener Program and showed her skills in her beautiful gardens at her home in Kimball MI.

Sister to Anthony Savant and Michael Savant (Pamela) she was also a mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and aunt to a large loving family of Cavanaughs.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
