Dean William Cunningham, 91, of Greenwood Township, died Sunday, January 21, 2018.

He was born August 15, 1926 in Detroit to the late William and Elspeth Cunningham and was 1/16th Cherokee Indian. His wife Barbara, died in August 1975.

Mr. Cunningham was a 1944 graduate of Yale High School and attended Michigan State University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper and in the intelligence service. He was wounded while in Japan.

Mr. Cunningham attended North Lakeport Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Brockway Lodge #316 F. & A.M.

He is survived by his sisters, Lorrie Hawker of Fenton and Patricia Peters of Goodells; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jacqueline, David and Olive.

Graveside committal services will take place 1:00 pm Friday, January 26, 2018 in Springhill Cemetery, Greenwood Township. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
