Darlene Ann Peyerk, 64, of Marysville, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born September 13, 1952 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada to the late Chester and Florence Cieslinski.

Darlene grew up in St. Clair where she attended St. Mary's School, was active in Girl Scouting, and then graduated from St. Clair High School in 1970. She graduated from Ferris State College in 1974, where she was a member of the Alpha Nu chapter of the Phi Gamma Nu sorority, and earned her M.A. from Grand Valley State University. In 1974 she married Charles Peyerk to whom she was married for 31 years. Darlene taught at St. Clair High School after college. She then was the office manager of Luce, Henderson and Bankson Law Offices and enjoyed working at Hudson's/Macy's in the gift registry department. After her boys were born, her focus became raising her three sons. She was very involved with St. Christopher and St. Mary's Schools, the Marysville Viking Regiment, and all of her sons' sports and activities. She taught 7th grade catechism at St. Christopher Catholic Church. Most recently, she taught at Central Middle School from 2000-2015.

She is survived by three sons, Scott (Jamie) Peyerk of Petoskey, Corey (Robin) Peyerk of Sarasota, Florida, and Matthew Peyerk of Port Huron; a grandson, Finnegan; sister, Sandy (Richard) McCrary of Blairsville, Georgia; the father of her children, Charles Peyerk; and very special friend, Bob Krall.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Gary.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Thursday in Marysville Funeral Home. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Peyerk will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Clair. Pallbearers will be her three sons, Charles Peyerk, Bob Krall, and Richard McCrary. Honorary pallbearer will be Finnegan J. Peyerk.

Memorials may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church catechism program, the Marysville Viking Regiment, or her grandchildren's education.
