Barbara Ann Murphy, 69, of Port Huron, died, peacefully but very unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

She was born June 21, 1948 in Detroit to the late Raymond and Effie Simpson. She married Harvey Murphy on November 26, 1983 in St. Clair Shores. He died February 13, 2009.

Mrs. Murphy owned and operated Better Hearing Center in Port Huron since 1983. She loved crafts, sewing, traveling, gardening and was an adventurous person who just went on an alligator hunt with her sons this past Easter. She will be fondly remembered as the den mother at the annual Shoe-N-Brew Family & Friends Reunion which just celebrated its 21st anniversary. She was a very caring and selfless person who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Nancy (Gerry) Malta, Kenneth Serio and Scott (Elizabeth) Serio; four grandchildren, Emma and Evan Serio, Mario and Isabella Malta; a brother, Robert (Patricia) Simpson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Schreiner.

Visitation will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 24, 2017 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.

Memorials may be made to the family for the grandchildren's education.
