Arthur James "Jim" McDonald, 76, of Marysville, died Thursday, March 16, 2017.

He was born January 16, 1941 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada to the late Arthur G. "Bud" and Elizabeth McDonald. He married Sally E. Sauter on July 14, 1979 in Portland, Oregon.

Jim was a proud graduate of GMI and worked as a design engineer for General Motors for over 39 years until his retirement in 1999. His professional achievements included the design and development of anti-lock brakes. After his retirement, Jim volunteered at Mercy Hospital as a courier, the People's Clinic, and as a driver for disabled veterans. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Capac. Jim was a talented carver, won several awards for duck decoys and soapstone carving, and was a member of the Huron Chippers and Carvers. He was also a member of the River District Eagles remote control airplane club. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sally; five children, A. Craig (Alice) McDonald, Sherri McDonald (Ken Burk), James Todd (Dana) McDonald, Mark (Sheila) McDonald, and Wendy (Brian Kulhanjian) Hunter; seven grandchildren, Kim (Richard) Bundy, Kristy (Joe) Ellis, Robert (Shannan) McDonald, Joshua McDonald (Carol-Ann Thompson), Ryan, Justin, and Alyssa McDonald; four great grandchildren, Craig and Roman Bundy, Izabell and Vincent Jacobs; three sisters, Judy (Nelson) Highfield, Patricia (Jay) Mesko, and Catherine (Mike) McCallion; aunt, Babe Ott; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his African Grey Parrot, Togo.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Marysville, with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Reverend John Hitzeroth will officiate.

Inurnment will be in the Riverlawn Cemetery Columbarium, Marysville.
